Discovering the Power of Petitionary Prayer

By Brendan Walsh

As we nurture our relationship with Christ, the Holy Spirit gradually reveals to us the depth of God’s love. In my ministry experience, this revelation alone is often enough to satisfy our search for meaning and purpose. It marks the inception of a journey guided by the direct will of God.

Prayers of petition become exceptionally potent once we’ve experienced the reality of God’s loving presence within us, through the power of the Holy Spirit. God consistently affirms this for us, bolstering our confidence when praying for others and for the world.

Above all, we come to understand that God is in control of everything and is profoundly interested in continuing His saving work through our lives.

Our faith grows, and faith is something that pleases God immensely. What evil fears most is a Christian who comprehends the potency of their prayers.

As our faith strengthens and our certainty in God’s care deepens, we extend our prayers of petition to encompass the needs of others.

Our image of God extends beyond just the story of Jesus; it encompasses our relationship with the Holy Trinity. While we can never fully fathom God here on Earth, we can be confident that God understands us thoroughly and is willing to offer His saving assistance in every aspect of our lives.

When we desire to know and seek a personal relationship with Jesus, the Holy Spirit awakens within us the incredible reality of being loved by God. This is also an ongoing encouragement within the messages of Our Lady Queen Of Peace In Medjugorje.
